EXPRESS YOURSELF

ABOUT EXPRESSING YOURSELF

Based on the recent studies highlighting the lack of forums available to Youths to 'express themselves', the YVSP shall organize a number of forums entitled; Express Yourself, Exploring Youth Views.
Through these forums, young people aged between 17-35 years will be used as resources for the development of the Ugandan Communities. They will be provided with a platform to express their views as it relates to Youth Empowerment and Development.

The information provided by the YVSP will provide pertinent updates on:
1. Available career opportunities based on available labour market information
2. Youth Organizations within each parish
3. Tips on how to land a job
3. Districts/Communities with urgent need for Community Service

Participating in these sessions means;
1. One will air views regarding youth development
2. Have the latest labour market employment indicators
3. Have information on career development

"Most of us are trying to find ourselves, We have no jobs, We are lost, We have no skills to deal with certain things and no forum to express ourselves, We are in a box"

VOLUNTEERISM

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Volunteerism is a Major Principle at YVSP

Volunteerism thrives within a particular social ethos, where charitable acts are highlighted and viewed as heroic. Volunteerism also needs an engine and must be aligned to higher ideals. Volunteerism, the willingness to sacrifice without material reward, will not survive within greed or isolation...This is one of the major Principles at Youth Volunteer Service Program.

The National Volunteer program
The Youth Volunteer Service Program shall embark on a drive to recruit volunteers across the country. This program is tailored to meet the Empowerment needs of the youths across country driven by voluntary time and effort. The program shall seek to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism in through active engagement of young people. We intend to partner with individuals, groups or organizations that share the mission of volunteerism both nationally and internationally.

Vision
To engage increasing numbers of young people, to be constructively occupied through, one time, short term or long term voluntary project engagements.

Who is a Volunteer?
The volunteer is anyone who is willing to give any combination of time, talent and or treasure without the expectation of compensation.

Program Objectives

b)      To identify and implement projects which will increase voluntary involvement.

  3. Volunteerism is likely to reduce social and community tension through the forging of local and new inter and intra-class social alliances.
  4. Volunteerism reduces the social responsibility of government and reduces the strain on the social service sector.
