SPECIAL PROJECTS AND COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER AGENCIES

SPECIAL PROJECTS AND COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER AGENCIES

The Youth Volunteer Service Program shall build a collaboration with some International, National, Regional and Local Agencies in many areas of human and societal developmental needs towards meeting the National and Global challenges. The list of the special projects and programmes is inexhaustible, the collaborative efforts shall generate series of activities, training and programmes with various agencies as under-listed
International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD)
International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) based in Colorado State University , USA shall be asked to get involved in training of YVSP staff in the area of Participatory process for Sustainable Development.

MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND MINERAL DEVELOPMENT
The YVSP partners with Energy Commission of Uganda in the area of Renewable Rural Energy Electrification/Project, which shall assist in training of a selected group of corps members in the construction of renewable energy device such as bio-gas digesters, photo voltaic energy device, less wood stove et cetera

NAADS

The NYSA shall also collaborate with the National Agricultural Advisory Services in the distribution of seeds or products, identification of areas where such services/products are needed and the mobilize and popularize its advantages to the communities where the Youths Army members live.

OPERATION WEALTH CREATION

This project will also be put into consideration and the YVSP will also work towards the achievement of this project and identify areas and places suitable for its implementation. The NYSA shall also be a supporting force towards this operation.

NEMA
                                     
National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) shall be asked to work with the corps members in creating awareness on environmental regeneration and in checking pollution, habitat conservation, waste management, afforestation and liter collection in partnership with some selected state agencies and the Ecological Fund. They shall also organize public enlightenment campaigns through lectures, debates, seminars, rallies, etc in schools, motor parks, markets and public squares in their host communities.         
                                                                       
UNICEF                                                                    
United Nations International Children Education Fund (UNICEF) shall also be asked collaborates with the YVSP in the areas of Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support project using corps members as Peer Educators in secondary schools.
                                        
WHO
Corps members shall serve as independent monitors during poliomyelitis immunization in the country. They shall also participate in public enlightenment campaigns on immunization against deadly diseases like polio, measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, tuberculosis as well as in the control of malaria, diarrhea, etc.

UNESCO
United Nations Education Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) shall also be asked to collaborate towards improving the reading culture of Ugandans particularly in the rural areas through the establishment of rural libraries using corps members.

BRITISH COUNCIL/WORLD BANK
British Council/World Bank Institute (BC/WBI) shall also be asked to collaborate with the NYSA in the area of creating awareness on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) and the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS) for application in the Community Development Service (CDS) projects of corps members.
                                             
 ACTIVITIES
Corps members shall also be organized into various groups to campaign against corruption, fraud and other forms of economic and financial crimes.                                                                   
Under this platform, corps members form CDS groups in their places of primary assignment shall also promote effective service delivery at the National, Regional and Districts/Local Government levels. They shall assist in carrying out sensitization in both the public and private sectors of the society.

LEGAL AID

In collaboration with the Legal Aid Council and other human rights groups, corps members form CDS groups to provide legal aid services for widows, children and other less privileged groups who fall victims to denial and violation.
